Domain Names Running Out Quickly; Only 22,535 Left

Have you been looking forward to opening up a website for a particular purpose anytime soon? Something which could be related to business or cooking, or maybe even gaming. Well, you are going to have a hard time then. There is no other way to say it. It was inevitable for this to happen and to our dismay, it finally has transpired. You are going to have a considerable amount of difficulty in getting a name for the website, and it is not for the reason that you think it is. It’s not because you just can’t find your favorite one or because you’re too choosy or indecisive. You are likely to face the problem of not finding a usable domain.

Yes, you read that right. There is a possibility that there are now very few available domains that could be used. The names for domains are running out. The number of domains available for websites is rapidly diminishing. It was anticipated that this day would come, ever since people started using the website hosting business in 2004 on a wide scale. Given the wide possibilities and opportunities provided by the internet, it is surprising for the day to arrive in the first place.

We chose not to consider it at the time since it appeared to be a long way off because it was believed that it would be a reality for markets to evolve in such a way that we could avoid this risk. It is, therefore, not surprising that businesses and people are going to have a harder time trying to find names for their websites from now on. The race for reaching good and clever domain names got a lot harder than it was before.

The Popularity Of The Internet

Recent research has shown that back in August 2021, the internet was home to what is estimated to be around 1.88 billion websites. No doubt, the number continued to grow more and more since that research. The English dictionary encompasses a wide range of catchy potentials for names. However, with over 1 million words in the English dictionary, it’s simple to see how single-word and phrase-like domains will quickly run out. In such a case, people are going to have to look for names with a massive amount of creativity.

According to recent research, there are only 22,535 accessible website names as of today. It feels like this marks the conclusion of the website domain era, and even Super Byte Hosting feels proud and delighted to have played a part in it. As the supply of domain names becomes scarce, it is a very high possibility that both the demand and the prices would exponentially rise. If you haven’t yet secured a domain, act quickly before it’s too late.

What Could Be Done Next?

If the names for these domains are running out, what are people who are looking forward to opening their website supposed to do? Being a part of the internet in this economy as a business group or as an individual is imperative. It is going to be feasible to have no internet presence and still expect to influence the economy. If someone wants to form their brand, they need to have a noticeable internet presence and to have that, you need to create a website with a catchy name and an influential presence.

In this scenario, one might need help with choosing the right name that is catchy and attractive. This is where Super Byte Hosting comes into play.

Startups And Cloud Hosting: Does It Work?

Even if you have a great idea for a startup, it is an extremely difficult task to build it up from the ground. There needs to be an adequate number of market research for even the most basic of operations. The name for the brand and the business is decided after tons and tons of brainstorming and research, and after it has been decided, it has to be registered as well. Any business idea would also require investors who are willing to fund it into execution successfully.

In the contemporary world, if you want to establish strong influence as a business, then it also needs to have its own social media presence. This calls for a domain name and its registration. Once these tasks are dealt with, you have to decide the hosting type among the numerous options that you have. With businesses wanting to shift towards a reliable hosting option, one of the most trending hosting types has been Cloud Hosting. Cloud Hosting is now becoming one of the more popular options for startups.

Cloud Hosting: What Is It?

Cloud Hosting links multiple devices to each other through the same network, which creates a single network. All the users sharing that space are also able to share the data on all their separate servers such as CPU or RAM. The information relating to a particular website is shared and stored among numerous servers. This is the upper hand that Cloud Hosting has over other types of hosting. Cloud Hosting provides incredibly high speed for efficient functioning.

This is significantly different from traditional hosting. All information on a website resides on a single server when traditional hosting is employed. Oftentimes, a server may store data from a multitude of websites; more than one website is often located on a single server. On the other hand, Cloud Hosting keeps the information of just one website on different servers. In this way, Cloud Hosting is more advantageous to use than other traditional types of hosting.

Why Is Cloud Hosting Better?

1. Cost

Cost is a significantly important factor to consider for businesses, especially at the time of startup. One of the best qualities of Cloud Hosting is its affordability. Cloud Hosting is relatively more expensive when it is compared to other hosting types. However, given the high-end features that it is equipped with, it is fairly economical. These features cannot be easily found in other hosting types which are fairly simple in their features. Some of these include resource monitoring, etc.

2. Performance

Cloud Hosting lets you link multiple servers with each other. These servers all store the data while spreading the load evenly. The process of copying this data is called data mirroring. In case any one of the servers fails at any point, you would not suffer any loss of data. The required operations are completed by any other available server without losing any precious time. Therefore, at any point in the system, the operations are not hindered.

3. Scalability

As a startup, you can sometimes enforce new features, which could lead to volatile website traffic. Scalability is an important consideration when upgrading server resources easily without a problem. With the features available in Cloud Hosting as well as easy scalability, you can easily upgrade the RAM and the CPU following your needs and the traffic online.

4. Speed

For startups, website loading time and speed, hold incredible importance. Even a 1-second delay can lead to decreasing conversion rates. The ranking of your website on the search engine is also influenced by the speed of the website. Cloud Hosting particularly holds an advantage because of its super-strong servers which have varnish cache included in them. Varnish helps in exponentially increasing the speed by which a website is loaded. It is a great choice for people with startups as it enriches the experience for the customer.

5. Security

Security of the website is important for protecting it from various security threats like malware, worms, viruses, etc. Cloud Hosting is a program that ensures a high level of security. Even though no form of hosting can ensure complete security, Cloud Hosting still provides a significant amount of it. This provided security from Cloud Hosting is because of the feature of data mirroring which helps to keep the data secure.

The catch is that the data is replicated on 3 different appliances. This means that in case one of the copies of the data is corrupted, the data would still not be lost. The data is always safe and it is assured that the data would be recovered quickly as there is a backup that is always available.

6. Reliability

Since the data is stored in more than a single server, data would never be lost. If a server ever fails, another runner will be up and running to do the operations. This reliability is essential in any website.

7. Easy Management

Working on a startup is a difficult task as it is. On top of that, dealing with a hosting plan is even more daunting. However, Cloud Hosting makes the whole task extremely simple by designing a dashboard that is easy to cope with. This makes the management of the website easier than ever.

Conclusion

Building a business from a startup is a stressful task. The burden of this task may only be worsened by having the responsibility of creating and running a website as well. In such a scenario, Cloud Hosting exponentially decreases this burden making the whole deal easier to work with. These are the reasons why Cloud Hosting is much superior to other hosting types, especially for startups. It is a reliable, fast, and secure option. It is also relatively cheaper, given its efficient features.

The First Website Of The World And Its History

At this point in our lives, the internet seems like an element that is deeply ingrained in our collective daily routines. It is almost as if it has always been a part of our lives. No doubt, the dependence on this source of information has become even more natural in the world after the COVID-19 pandemic. Almost every aspect of our lives today is somehow related to this powerful tool in some way or the other. It feels bizarre to imagine an economy where this isn’t utilized on a daily basis, which is why it is almost weird to acknowledge the fact that the first website on the internet was created in 1991!

Ever since its creation, the World Wide Web has known no bounds and it has only grown forward. This is only proved by the fact that there are approximately 1.9 billion websites on the internet right now. The first website led to major developments in the world of the internet.

First Website

The address of the first website on the World Wide Web was info.cern.ch. It was a simple page containing elementary information about the World Wide Web project. August 6, 1991, was the day that the website was launched. In the next three decades, more and more sites flooded the internet. The World Wide Web was a result of the collaboration among the various governments of Europe working together for the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).

The webpage of the first website now displays a self-description as the first website. However, if you were to open the same page in 1991, it would open up a vintage domain. CERN has also uploaded a more updated version of the website in a format that modern users would find easier to follow. The website contained information explaining the way that hyperlinks could be put into use and be connected to a certain type of content. It also gave the resources which would better explain how HTTP, HTML, and URLs functioned.

How It Was Created?

Tim Berners-Lee was a British computer scientist at CERN who was leading The World Wide Web project. CERN was a community of scientists from over 100 countries. The scientists are required to spend some of their time on the CERN site but they mostly carry out their activities at the universities and laboratories which were present in their native lands. This distance calls for fools of communication that are reliable. The aim for Berners-Lee was to create a pathway through which one can dispense information to different locations simultaneously.

The first web page laid down the instructions guiding how to use the World Wide Web. Through this, people could learn hypertext or the way to build their web pages successfully. For Berners-Lee, the motivation behind this innovation was the desire to make life a little bit earlier for everyone, which he did. It was in 1989 that he made the suggestion for an invention that would function as an information management system. He did this in front of his managers at CERN. The system would work on the basis of such a process that would link the data on different computers, on the condition that they are all connected to the internet. While they appreciated the idea, the managers surprisingly rejected his proposal. However, Berners-Lee worked harder than ever for a complete year, after which he approached the managers again with a new and significantly better idea. This was formalized as a proposal in November 1990 with the help of Belgian systems engineer, Robert Cailliau.

This proposal defined the most basic concepts for the idea and how viewers could use “browsers” to view “hypertext documents”. The managers were then impressed and granted him the permission to not only work on this project but lead it as well. The whole team worked extremely hard to execute the idea fruitfully. During this period, Berners-Lee had managed to start the development of HTML (HyperText Markup Language), HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) as well as URL (Uniform Resource Locators). Finally, in 1991, the site was complete and ready to be launched. Berners-Lee had developed the code for his server on his NeXT computer, which he had labeled as a server in red ink so that no one would ever switch it off. It has been 3 decades since then, and all of these innovations are more relevant than ever.

While the web was initially being developed for intellectuals in institutes and universities to share their ideas, it later became a common man’s handy tool. CERN released the World Wide Web software to the public on 30 April 1993. This helped to increase its use and hence, its success. The World Wide Web originated from a single website and it has not looked back since then. The number of web pages in this 3-decade period has increased exponentially. Google was launched in 1996.

What would be interesting to know is that the world’s first website was lost for a while there. A lot of first sites were not archived by computer scientists. However, in 2013, there was a project at CERN which aimed to restore the very first website and it was successful in doing so.

The algorithm of the World Wide Web provided access to information and certain pages linked to data that was relevant for scientists from CERN. In the early years, since search engines did not exist, you had to rely on keywords for searching.

Conclusion

The first web page was, therefore, a huge step towards the development of not only the internet but for the development of humans and their future as well. It showed the importance of initiative and hard work, which led to an amazing creation that proves helpful and relevant for millions of people throughout the world. August 6, 1991, was an important milestone in the history of the internet due to the launch of this site.
